Ai-Da was released after being detained ten days ago for fear that she was a security risk. The arrest sparked a kind of diplomatic crisis between Egypt and the UK.

The British-made robot artist Ai-Da, who creates paintings using algorithms, was detained for ten days before being released this Wednesday (10/20/2021) by Egyptian security forces on suspicion of being part of an espionage plot.

His work will appear in the first contemporary art exhibition to be held at the Great Pyramid of Giza, which opens today Thursday (10.21.2021).

"She was released very late last night," Aidan Meller, her creator , told The Times , adding that the "ultra-realistic humanoid robot artist" was in good physical condition after ten days without power. "We are very very relieved," he said.
